How do we work?
When is it worth seeing a cardiologist?
At Mediss Medical in Gdańsk, we offer comprehensive cardiology care for people who experience worrying symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, dizziness or chronic fatigue. It is also worth making an appointment for a cardiology consultation in the case of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and a family history of heart disease. Regular visits to a cardiologist are particularly important for patients who have had a heart attack and for people with circulatory system diseases such as arrhythmia, heart failure or atherosclerosis.
Our cardiology services include:
- Cardiology diagnostics and consultations – we conduct detailed tests that allow for quick and precise diagnosis of cardiology problems.
- Echocardiography tests (ultrasound of the heart) – allow for the assessment of heart function and detection of possible irregularities in its structure and functioning.
- Holter ECG and blood pressure monitoring – thanks to 24-hour monitoring of heart function and blood pressure, we detect heart rhythm disorders, such as arrhythmia, and irregularities in blood pressure levels.
- Prevention and health advice – we offer assistance in implementing lifestyle changes that support heart health, such as proper diet, physical activity and stress management
What symptoms may indicate heart disease?
It is worth seeing a cardiologist when you experience symptoms such as:
- Shortness of breath – associated with heart disease, it can occur even with little effort or at rest.
- Chronic fatigue – often associated with a weakened heart, which does not pump blood efficiently enough to nourish all the cells of the body.
- Fainting – may be the result of insufficient blood flow to the brain, which is often the result of heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmia) or blood vessel blockages.
- Palpitations – rapid, accelerated heartbeat, especially if it lasts longer than a few minutes, may indicate heart rhythm disorders and requires consultation.
- Swelling – appearing on the legs, around ankles, and also in the lower torso can be a sign of heart failure.
- Skin discoloration – a blue discoloration of the skin, lips, and fingernails, especially when warm, can indicate heart disease.
- Chest pain – pain that radiates to the arms, neck, or jaw can indicate angina pectoris or even a heart attack, especially if it lasts longer than a few minutes.
How to prepare for your first visit?
To make your first visit to the cardiologist as effective as possible, prepare a list of medications you are currently taking and a medical history, especially those related to the circulatory system. Write down any symptoms you are experiencing and any questions you want to ask the doctor. It is also a good idea to bring the results of recent tests, such as blood tests and imaging, if available. Dress comfortably for your visit – you may need to expose your chest during the examination.
