Pediatric dermatology

Pediatric dermatology

A pediatric dermatologist diagnoses, prevents and treats dermatological diseases in newborns, children and adolescents (up to 18 years of age), focusing not only on the treatment of skin diseases, but also of the appendages, i.e. hair and nails.

Pediatric dermatology is considered one of the most difficult specializations. It requires the doctor to have knowledge in two fields of medicine – dermatology and pediatrics. He must also demonstrate extraordinary understanding, gentleness, and an excellent sense of observation – especially since some of his youngest patients are unable to independently indicate inflammatory conditions on the body, much less describe them.

When to Go to a Dermatologist with Your Child?

Parents should consult a pediatric dermatologist when they notice any skin changes in their child, such as redness, irritation, itching, or food allergy symptoms that do not go away on their own after a few days. It is also worth monitoring existing skin lesions that have intensified or changed their appearance. Early treatment can protect the child’s delicate skin from permanent damage and increase the effectiveness of therapy.

Skin diseases in children are different from those in adults, so in addition to treatment, a paediatric dermatologist can also advise on the selection of appropriate cosmetics that will not cause allergies and will be adapted to the child’s skin type.

We invite you to Mediss Medical Clinic, where you will find professional dermatological care for your child. Our team of specialists is ready to help you fight skin problems and improve your baby’s quality of life.
