Soft tissue therapy

Soft tissue therapy

Soft tissue therapy involves the use of specific manual techniques aimed at removing tension and dysfunction of the myofascial system (muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia).

Shortening of soft tissue structures is manifested, among others, by a feeling of fatigue or stiffness in the shortened muscle and the occurrence of abnormalities in the movement pattern, muscle tension, muscle flexibility, range of motion in the joint and joint play.

Soft tissue therapy at Mediss Medical Clinic in Gdańsk

Soft tissue therapy is a set of therapeutic techniques aimed at treating and improving the functioning of muscles, ligaments, tendons and fascia. These methods are used to treat pain, improve mobility, reduce tension and support tissue regeneration. Soft tissue therapy is crucial in the rehabilitation of patients after injuries, surgeries and in the treatment of chronic pain.

Diagnosis and assessment of the patient’s condition:

  • Detailed medical history
  • Assessment of body posture and mobility
  • Soft tissue palpation to identify areas of tension and pain
  • Development of an individual therapeutic plan

Therapeutic techniques:

  • Deep massage: Focusing on the deeper layers of muscles and fascia to relax tension and adhesions.
  • Stretching techniques: Improving flexibility and range of motion through a variety of stretching techniques.
  • Soft tissue mobilization: Manipulation of tissues to improve their mobility and flexibility.
  • Trigger Point Techniques: Acupressure in areas of increased pain sensitivity to reduce tension and pain.
  • Functional Myofascial Therapy: Combining different techniques to improve muscle and fascial function.

Therapy monitoring and modification:

  • Regularly evaluate progress
  • Adjust techniques and intensity of therapy depending on the patient’s response
  • Patient education in self-guided exercises and self-therapy techniques
