Thyroid ultrasound

Thyroid ultrasound

Thyroid ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging test that allows the assessment of the structure and size of the thyroid gland and the detection of possible pathological changes, such as nodules, cysts or inflammation. The thyroid is a small gland located in the front of the neck that plays a key role in regulating metabolism.

Ultrasound examination of the thyroid gland is safe, quick and painless, which makes it a widely used diagnostic tool in endocrinology.

Thyroid ultrasound examination at Mediss Medical Clinic in Gdańsk

Thyroid ultrasound is safe, quick and painless, making it a commonly used diagnostic tool in endocrinology. At Mediss Medical Clinic, we offer comprehensive diagnostics that ensure precise results and patient comfort.

Thyroid ultrasound is extremely accurate in assessing the structure of the gland. It allows for early detection of changes that may not be visible on palpation. Thanks to ultrasonography, it is possible to accurately locate and assess the nature of tumors and other abnormalities. This test also allows you to monitor the progress of treatment and assess the effects of therapy in the case of thyroid diseases.

Course of the study

An ultrasound examination of the thyroid gland usually takes about 15-20 minutes. The patient lies on their back, with their head slightly tilted to provide better access to the neck. A special gel is applied to the skin of the neck to improve the conductivity of ultrasounds. The doctor at Mediss Medical Clinic moves the head of the device around the neck, obtaining images of the thyroid gland on the monitor screen. The examination is completely painless and does not require any special preparations.

What are the indications for thyroid ultrasound?

Thyroid ultrasound is recommended in cases of:
